Notte delle Lampare 2024 in Cetara

La Notte delle Lampare (The Night of the Lanterns) is one of the most anticipated summer events in Cetara, a small fishing village on the Amalfi Coast.

Now in its 47th edition, this event celebrates the ancient tradition of night fishing for anchovies, offering visitors a unique and evocative experience.

The Night of the Lanterns will take place from August 1st to 3rd, 2024, with a program full of activities for both adults and children.

The Tradition of the Lanterns

Fishing with lanterns is an ancient technique that uses lights to attract schools of anchovies to the surface, making them easier to catch.

During the Night of the Lanterns, participants can watch a night fishing trip from a boat, observing the fishermen at work up close.

This experience allows you to relive the maritime traditions of Cetara, immersing yourself in the evocative atmosphere of the village illuminated by the lanterns.

Event Program

The event will kick off on August 1st with “Waiting for the Night of the Lanterns.” The evening will feature historical parades, video mapping shows, and live concerts.

The following day, August 2nd, will include historical games and more video mapping and live music performances.

The highlight of the event will be on August 3rd, with the departure for the fishing trip from Molo Madonnina at 9:00 PM. At the same time, there will be tastings of typical Cetara dishes and video mapping shows at various times.

Tastings and Gastronomy

During the event, typical dishes such as montanarina di Cetara, gnocchetti with anchovy sauce, fried anchovies, pinza alla marinara, and lemon cream babà will be served, among many others.
